This is me: sole trader, craft teacher, and small business owner in the gorgeous Isle of Anglesey in North Wales, (Wales UK that is).

My name is Ginny Glenn, and I started Crafty Rhino in November 2017 as a once-weekly crochet group called Yarncrafting Coven.  What follows is a potted history of my little business.

We, that is the regulars of Yarncrafting Coven, met on Monday mornings at the lovely old Manor house at Pensychnant Conservation Centre, and although small, our group was friendly and we all wanted to take our crafting further.

By the following September (2018) I was renting space in my local wool shop to teach beginner workshops in knitting, crochet, embroidery, and macrame, and I was also selling fabulous silk fibres and yarns that I had started importing from India.  That was when I opened my first Etsy shop too and listed my silk fibres and yarns on there for sale.

From January to December 2019 I ran the business from a lovely well-lit office just down the road from my home, and since then I've been working at home from my conservatory, both teaching and growing my online shop.  Then everything changed when Covid-19 became talked about in the UK and Wales went into lockdown on 23rd March.  All workshops and classes were cancelled or indefinitely postponed, and I became simply an online retailer, mainly of my beloved Chiaogoo knitting and crocheting tools and accessories.  They have been my very favourite knitting needles and crochet hooks since I first tried them, so they were the perfect addition to my shop.  I hope you will come to love them as much as I do.

My online shop has been my lifeline since March 2020. It has kept me busy and engaged during the lockdown, which is only just starting to ease in Wales.  Our main industry here is tourism and many local businesses have taken a huge hit.  We are all struggling financially, so each and every order from you, my lovely customers, is very much appreciated.  I have created a simple but hopefully easy to navigate website, and hope you enjoy shopping here.  The Events page is being updated as we are able to host workshops once again, and in stages.  I'll keep you in the know.  Stay safe xx
